Lancaster, PA – A patient whose wounds were able to heal from compression pump therapy is giving back so other patients may experience a better quality of life. On Tuesday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. Father Norman C. Hohenwarter will present a $1,200 check to Medical Solutions Supplier at Wound Care & Hyperbaric Services, Suburban Outpatient Pavilion, 2112 Harrisburg Pike, in Lancaster.
Medical Solutions Supplier is matching Father Hohenwarter’s donation, enabling an additional patient at Lancaster General Hospital (LGH) to benefit from compression pump therapy.
“Our brand promise is to provide a pump to every patient who needs one,” remarked Steve Kantor, Founder and President of Medical Solutions Supplier. “We donate pumps regularly to those whose insurance doesn’t cover this therapy or who can’t pay for it – but this is the first time one of our patients has made a donation to help supply a pump to another patient. This is a tremendous display of generosity by Father Hohenwarter as well as a true testament to how our pump therapy can help reduce swelling and pain; increase mobility and help wounds heal – all in the comfort of a patient’s home.” Thanks to the care he received at LG Health, Father Hohenwarter was prescribed a compression pump to treat chronic edema and lymphedema. The swelling and pain he experienced on a daily basis dramatically diminished once he started using the pump. “I have been so impressed with the change in my legs and increased mobility, I felt compelled to give back and help someone who could experience the same progress,” said Father Hohenwarter. “I just wish I had known about the pneumatic compression pump therapy sooner, because now that I know how well it works, I wouldn’t want to be without it.”
Wound Care Center Director Carolyn Masey will represent Lancaster General Health at the check presentation. “We are delighted to partner with Medical Solutions Supplier to receive Father Hohenwarter’s donation.” Her sentiments were echoed by Eric Ansart, who is the National Sales Manager for Medical Solutions Supplier. “I knew we were off to a good start during my first introduction to the LG Health Wound Care Center, when Medical Director Dr. Michael Floodtook time to sit down and actually try the compression pump for nearly 20 minutes. It was obvious to me that LG Health was dedicated to providing superior wound care and that the team was open to hearing about any new products that might help their patients. It is fitting that Father Hohenwarter’s donation – and the Medical Solutions Supplier match – will benefit the outstanding facility where he received his care.”
Though both the Wound Care Center and Medical Solutions Supplier have experienced many changes over the course of the last five years of their working relationship, according to Ansart, one thing remains consistent: “There is a mutual desire to put patient care first. I’ve always been grateful for the team at LG Health Wound Care; they really go out of their way to help patients get the equipment they need and they’ve always welcomed Medical Solutions Supplier as part of the team.”
Compression Therapy Specialist Steve Scrignoli worked closely with Father Hohenwarter once his pump had been prescribed to ensure that he was fully trained on the use of the equipment and comfortable with its use. “We have enjoyed a long- standing relationship with the Wound Care Center, and our goal is always to provide a top quality pump with unmatched patient care,” said Scrignoli. “Helping patients heal and enjoy a better quality of life is at the heartbeat of what we do at Medical Solutions Supplier.”
