Warrior2Citizen to Receive $3,000 Donation from Medical Solutions Supplier

Published: 12 January, 2015

Glen Mills, PA – Medical Solutions Supplier, a leading provider of home therapy equipment and supplies to treat chronic or acute medical conditions, will donate $3,000 to the Warrior2Citizen non-profit organization.  The Company’s “Brownies for the Brave” initiative took place during the end of 2014, linking their interactions with clients to this worthy cause.

Because serving our nation’s Veterans is a primary focus of Medical Solutions Supplier’s government sector sales force, the decision to benefit a Veterans’ charity to close out the year was an obvious choice – and the Warrior2Citizen organization has a special connection to Medical Solutions Supplier.

“As we developed our marketing materials for our VA business, we sought a compelling testimony to feature in our publications,” remarked Joseph Carberry, Executive Team Leader.  “We receive thousands of positive testimonies each year from the patients we serve, but retired Brigadier General John M. Owings’ story was unique – and he was enthusiastic about sharing his experience because he hoped it would help other soldiers suffering from lymphedema and circulatory disorders.”

Here is just a small portion of General Owings testimony about Medical Solutions Supplier’s Compression Pump Therapy:  “I cannot believe how well it works.  The lymphedema pump completely takes the fluid from the ankles, feet and legs.  I can actually wear my shoes and there is no pain.  A great product for an old soldier.”

Not only did General Owings’ words make a featured appearance in Medical Solutions Supplier’s marketing materials, but he also introduced the Company to a venture he started in 2010 to help returning soldiers and their families transition from the front lines to the home front and deal with symptoms of post-traumatic stress.  Warrior2Citizen’s goal is to help soldiers face a variety of social, economic and mental conflicts that may arise after they return stateside and ensure any assistance or counseling is offered before trouble turns into tragedy.

Some of the statistics cited by Warrior2Citizen in its mission statement include:

  • More than 100,000 soldiers are on some kind of pain, antidepressant, or anxiety medication.
  • In 2009 alone, there were 74,646 criminal offenses among army personnel including 16,997 drug and alcohol related offenses.
  • Eighteen percent of veterans recently separated from service are unemployed, and of those employed, 25% earn less than $21,840 a year.
  • Up to 42% of National Guard and Army Reserve troops require mental health treatment, but that fewer than 10% actually get care.

“Giving back is a hallmark of Medical Solutions Supplier,” added Steve Kantor, Founder and President.  “To serve our Veterans each day and improve their quality of life through our compression pump therapy is gratifying; to support a cause like Warrior2Citizen lines up with our Company core value of ‘doing the right thing’ by those who have done so much for us.”

A formal check presentation will take place in the coming weeks at the Atlanta VA Hospital.  To learn more about Warrior2Citizen, visit http://www.warrior2citizen.org/.
