Every lipedema patient needs a variety of tools to effectively manage their condition, and for many, new options offer new hope. The experiences of two anchor panelists prescribed GLP-1 drugs took center stage at the July Lipedema Patient Roundtable. Though taking two different medications, both Pattie Cornute and Jenny Beaujean report reduced inflammation and, although it is early in their journey, feel hopeful about the positive changes they are experiencing since starting the medication.
Angelique Charles reported a remarkable mental health breakthrough achieved by returning to the gym. She shared how this time devoted to self-care is improving her whole self, mentally and physically. Following Pattie’s mantra of “all or something,” she encouraged the audience to find movement that they enjoy – and then to do it!
Linda Anne Kahn’s report on the cutting-edge research presented at the Lipoedema Australia Conference covered everything from melatonin to hormones, when and what you eat, and the stages of lipedema. Joining the panel from Nashville, TN, was Paula Donahue, one of the authors of the Standard of Care for Lipedema in the United States. She fielded a variety of audience questions and brought an update on the National Commission on Lymphatic Diseases and the next steps for this important commission.
Special thanks to our moderator, anchor panelists, and guest for always making the Roundtable a source of great information and inspiration each month:
